날개

바다가 내려다보이는 절벽
가파른 계단을 오르네.

앞서가는 사람의 균형 잡는 뒷모습
정수리에 뿔을 숨긴 것은 아닌지
날개 펼친 프테라노돈이 눈앞에 스치네.

설핏 내 모습 뒤돌아볼 순간
쓸려내린 흙이라도 아름답게 딛고 싶어
불끈 볏을 세우고 따라걷네.

숨 고르거나 주저앉을 틈 없이
세상에서 거푸 놓쳐버린 밧줄
오늘은 바투 감아쥐고 비탈길 가네.

몸 가누지 못하고 뒤처진 어깨 사이
날개야, 가볍고 단단하게 돋아나라.

On a cliff overlooking the sea,
I climb the steep stairs.

The back of the man ahead, balancing—
Could horns be hidden atop his crown?
A Pteranodon flashes before my eyes.

In the fleeting moment he glances back at me,
Even the swept-away soil, I wish to step on beautifully.
I stiffen my crest and follow.

Without a chance to catch my breath or drop down.
The ropes I’ve so often let slip in this world—
Today I clutch them tight as I climb the slope.

Between shoulders faltering, body unsteady,
Wings, rise light and strong.

날개가 돋아나면 움켜쥐지 않을  것이다
버리고 싶은 기억, 괴로운 생각에게
날개를 달아주어야 겠다
